Founded in 2004, InfinID Technologies, Inc. is a hardware and software development house specializing in RFID technology solutions. We developed a novel active RFID ad-hoc network tag with sensor capabilities — V-Tag — which is patented (US 8,094,022 B2), trademarked, and FCC-approved. All of our software and hardware is developed and manufactured in the USA, and a growing reseller channel carries our AssetWorx! software and V-Tag active-tracking solution worldwide.
InfinID's active RFID mesh networking grew out of a federally funded Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant with a U.S. Department of Defense medical-research program. The program needed a better way to track and monitor the condition of medical supply items from point of origin to end user.
Our answer was V-Tag: active tags that self-organize and self-heal into a reliable mesh, transmitting their ID and sensor readings at a low duty cycle and relaying readings from other tags in range — with minimal infrastructure. In SBIR simulations, the V-Tag system proved 2–4× more reliable than the tags on the market at the time.
The V-Tag platform has expanded into multiple lines — all supported by AssetWorx!, which runs both active V-Tag and passive RFID together.
