How V-Tag works

Zone-level location, told honestly.

Fixed reference tags map the space; movable asset tags locate themselves against that map and hop their reports across the mesh to a gateway. It is rugged, low-maintenance, and priced for scale — and it is deliberately not a real-time system.

How the mesh reports

V-Tag is an active Zigbee self-healing mesh built for reliable zone-level location. It is not RTLS, not sub-second, not BLE, and not a beacon-positioning system. Positions settle across the mesh in roughly 3–4 minutes — the honest trade for battery life measured in years and near-zero fixed infrastructure.

  • Stick a fixed-position tag wherever you want to track — the fixed tags create their own ad-hoc wireless mesh.
  • Attach an asset tag to anything; when it moves, it discovers the nearest fixed tag and reports across the mesh to a gateway.
  • Upload a map of your building and associate each fixed tag with a location.
  • Find it fast — a remotely-activated beeper on the asset tag walks a person right up to it.

Self-healing mesh

Tags route around each other — add or move tags and the network re-forms itself, no fixed-reader grid to wire.

Battery in years

Replaceable batteries rated for 1, 3, or 6 years depending on the tag — low total cost across a big fleet.

Sensors & alerts

Onboard shock, temperature, and battery sensors raise active alerts — not just location, but condition.

A software-activated beeper helps a person walk right up to a tagged item on a crowded floor.

Why active RFID

Built to be read where passive tags go quiet.

A traditional passive tag has no battery — it waits to be read by a reader it happens to pass. A V-Tag carries its own power and radio, so it keeps reporting across distance, metal, and clutter, with only a handful of gateways to install.

Long read range

Reads at long range indoors and out — compare that to passive systems, which only see an asset when it passes by a portal.

Toughest environments

An active radio reads through metal racks, dense storage, and clutter that stop passive RFID cold.

Onboard sensors

V-Tag carries sensors for temperature and shock — so you get condition and alerts, not just location.

Very little infrastructure

The tags build their own network just by being deployed — substantially cutting infrastructure cost and deployment time.
